2. Overview

GPS to FCP Converter is a macOS application that processes GPX files (activity data from sports watches, fitness trackers and similar devices) locally on the user’s device. The app generates map visualizations and FCPXML titles for use in Final Cut Pro.

In short: All data stays on your Mac. The app does not send any usage, tracking or analytics data to us or to third parties.

3. What data is processed?

3.1 Data processed locally

The following data is processed exclusively on your Mac. It does not leave your device and is not transmitted to us:

GPX file contents: You select a GPX file yourself. The GPS coordinates, timestamps, elevation data and, if present, heart rate information are read in order to generate map videos, map images and FCPXML titles.
App settings: Your configuration (color schemes, units, output folders, etc.) is stored in the app’s local storage (macOS UserDefaults and SwiftData).
Generated output files: Map videos (MP4), map images (PNG) and FCPXML files are saved in the folder you select.

3.2 External services with data transfer

The app uses two Apple services. When you use them, technically necessary data is transferred to Apple:

Apple MapKit: When exporting map videos and map images, map tiles are loaded from Apple’s map servers. Apple may process your IP address and the requested map regions for this purpose. This transfer is technically required for the app to display maps.
Apple StoreKit: For in-app purchases, the app uses Apple’s StoreKit framework. Apple processes the purchase transactions as part of your Apple ID.

3.3 What the app does NOT do

No tracking, no analytics tools (such as Google Analytics, Firebase, Crashlytics, etc.)
No advertising
No transmission of your GPX data to our servers or to third-party servers
No cloud storage by us
No access to iCloud, contacts, calendars, photos or similar personal data

4. Legal basis

Local data processing (GPX files, settings, output): takes place on your device only – we have no access. There is no data processing in the legal sense on our part.
Apple MapKit / StoreKit: data processing for the performance of the user agreement (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR) and based on legitimate interests in a functioning product (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). Processing is carried out by Apple, not by us.

5. Data retention

Any data created by the app remains on your device for as long as you wish. You can delete it at any time via the operating system (Finder, uninstalling the app).

6. Your rights

Since we do not process or store any personal data about you, we cannot offer you access, deletion, correction or data portability – we simply have no data about you.

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority at any time. The authority of your usual place of residence is the competent body.
